If you work in digital, enquiries come in by email, social media and word of mouth, often for projects that are still vague. One record per enquiry keeps the source and your notes from the first call, and a quote with no reply goes back on the list of clients to follow up.
The project is paid in stages: a deposit on signing, an instalment at the first release, the balance on delivery. You log them on the project record, together with any licences bought and the collaborators involved, and when the project ends the Report shows the margin left once those costs are taken off.
